Greetings, in celebration of granddaughter Miz-E in Asheville this weekend!
It’s also an official season-opener of sorts around here. The next two months bring a batch of milestones to be marked among the extended family circle — from oldest at 95 to youngest at nine months, with a 30-ish newly minted PhD in between. Then the long summer-fall warm months at the lake look more promising for long-delayed friend visits than in recent years.
So in newShrink, some weeks you’ll see more small-bite tapas fare, all-photo collections like this one and short single-topic Shrinkwraps. With plenty of news and issues to come, deeper-dive magazine-length editions will still be in the mix.
And I always love hearing from you. It’s an extra delight when you send over interesting, funny and inspiring stuff to share and to think and talk about.
Now, to Miz-E…

… it is important that awake people be awake,
or a breaking line may discourage them back to sleep;
the signals we give — yes or no, or maybe —
should be clear: the darkness around us is deep.
